This cake is made using agar agar — not gelatin! Agar comes from seaweed and sets quickly.

1/2 tsp agar agar powder

1 cup water (filtered or bottled works best)

Optional: 1 tsp sugar (for a tiny bit of sweetness)

Toppings: roasted soybean powder (kinako) and brown sugar syrup (kuromitsu)

Mold: Use a round mold, dome mold, or even a small bowl!
π₯ How to Make It – Step-by-Step:

In a small saucepan, mix agar agar with water. Stir well.

Bring to a gentle boil while stirring. Boil for 1 minute to dissolve the agar.

Turn off heat. Let it cool slightly.

Pour the liquid into your mold and refrigerate for 1–2 hours until set.

Carefully remove from the mold — be gentle, it’s wobbly like jelly!
